Veneita “Vee” Frances Barrett

Veneita “Vee” Frances Barrett, 89, Salina, died Sunday, November 25, 2007.

Mrs. Barrett was born November 19, 1918 in Chapman, the daughter of Nora (Caswell) and Earl F. Picking.

She married Jack C. Barrett on October 13, 1946. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Business Women’s Club, Salina Women’s Credit Association, VFW Auxilary, and charter president of the Charter Chapter of America.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1992 and by a sister, Velna Lundgren.

Survivors include one daughter, Seara (McIntosh) Weir of Salina; one sister, LaVon Sperling of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, James Weir of Salina and Mary Ann Weir of St. Paul, Minnesota; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth (Weir) Emrick, Jonathan Weir and Mathew Weir, all of Ava, Missouri; one great-great-granddaughter, Alexis Emrick of Ava, Missouri and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, 308 S. 8th, Salina, with Rev. Thomas Reid officiating. Private family inurnment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Home, 321 N. Chestnut, Lindsborg or to First Presbyterian Church.

There will be no visitation.
