Mr. Carlson was born July 8, 1932, in Alton. He retired as a foundry maintenance worker for Wyatt Manufacturing, which later became Great Plains Manufacturing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon F. and Jenny I; and a sister, Leona Parker.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of Salina; two sons, Frank and wife Dawn of Salina and Doug of Wakarusa; two brothers, Earl of Oklahoma and Roger of Salina; three sisters, Vera Mason of Las Vegas, Joann Guttry of California and Carol Baldridge of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren, Justin of Salina and Christine "Chrissy" of Lincoln, Neb.; three stepgrandchildren, Dusty, Jenna and Dylan Reid, all of Salina; and two great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Carlson of Salina and Kaylee Elliott of Lincoln, Neb.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Inurnment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina.

There will be no visitation.
