Mrs. Divelbiss was born Mary E. Shelton on Nov. 30, 1921, in Salina, to Floyd and Mary Shelton. She was a retired schoolteacher in Kansas schools for 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, in 2003; and a sister, Agnes Andrus of Michigan.

Survivors include two sons, Howard and Gerald, both of Salina; four daughters, Nancy Evans of McPherson, Frances Nestler of Olathe, Rosalie of Seneca and Ruth of Dodge City; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service with committal service by the VFW Post 1432 Auxiliary will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, the Rev. Ed Foster officiating. A private inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Salina Education Foundation to benefit Coronado Elementary School, in care of the mortuary.
