Dr. Stanley C. Drevets, 70, of Salina, Kansas passed away on July 26, 2007. He was born at Asbury Hospital to Clarence and Alice Drevets on February 17, 1937. His family lived on a farm near Smolan until 1942 and moved to Salina after the military took possession of the farm to build a base. On October 20, 1961 he eloped with and married Roma Kibler in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. Dr. Drevets was a graduate of Salina High School and Kansas State University where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He later received his DDS from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Dentistry. He also served in the US Army and was recalled during the Berlin Crisis. Dr. Drevets was a dentist in Smith Center for six years before moving his family to Salina where he practiced dentistry for 30 years with satellite offices in Wilson and Minneapolis. He enjoyed officiating high school football; was a passionate supporter of KSU and its athletics; was an enthusiastic high school booster; and was a generous donor to various community projects and charities including his recent contribution of his dental equipment and supplies to Salina Family Healthcare Center. Dr. Drevets was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Roma Drevets; a daughter Erin Trimble and her husband James of Charleston, SC; sons Matthew of Salina and Luke of Greenville, SC; two grandchildren, Jessica and Sierra Baskett, of Charleston, SC; an older brother, Dr. Curtis Drevets and wife Jody of Wichita, KS; and a younger sister, Margaret Williams and husband Randall of Sacramento, CA. Friends are invited to sign the memorial book and visit with the family on Sunday, July 29th from 12-4 PM at Ryan's Mortuary in Salina. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Monday, July 30th at 12 PM at The First Church of the Nazarene in Salina. The service will be officiated by Dr. Drevets's nephew, Rev. Brian Drevets, Pastor Jon Fillipi, and Pastor David Heikes. Donations can be made to either the Salvation Army, American Diabetes Foundation, or American Stoke Association in Dr. Drevets's memory with a gift designation for research. |
