Mrs. Farmer was born Iva M. Smith on July 23, 1923, in Hoxie to Frank and Iva (Hunter) Smith. She worked for Asbury Hospital, in the laundry and housekeeping department.

She was a member of VFW Auxiliary. She was a foster grandmother at Sunset Elementary School, Salina, volunteering to read to the class. She was a bingo player.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Hill, in 1979; her second husband, Donald Ray Walters, in 1963; and a daughter, Betty Hill.

Survivors include two sons, Robert "Leroy" Hill and Jerry Hill, both of Salina; a brother, Robert Smith of Cawker City; two sisters, Rhoda Kennedy and Martha "Tillie" Lantz, both of Salina; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
