Helen Marie Fischer
December 31, 1912 - April 8, 2007

Helen Marie Fischer, 94, Salina, formerly of Cawker City, died Sunday, April 8, 2007.

Mrs. Fischer was born Dec. 31, 1912, in Mercer, Mo., to Basil and Gertrude (Wolbert) Heumphreus. She worked in food preparation and was a cook for Kansas Wesleyan University for 28 years. She married Eugene Edmund Fischer on Sept. 3, 1933, in Algonquin, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Toburen and husband Les of Salina and Dorothy Culley and husband Garold of Derby; two sons, Larry of Dallas and Ron of Austin, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Tammy Culley, Tricia Oldridge, Douglas Toburen, Debra Clark, Larry, Sean and Michael Fischer, Ron Fischer, Ericka Fischer, Morgan Fischer and Amy Fischer; and seven great-grandchildren, Heather O'Neill, Logan Oldridge, Isaac Toburen, Alex Baker, Alyssa Baker, Andrew Fischer and Sean Ellis.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at University United Methodist Church, the Rev. Mike Rose officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Prairie Grove Cemetery, Cawker City.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice of Wichita, Villa Maria of Mulvane or the Parkinson's Foundation.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
