Mrs. Gilbert was born Alfrieda Marie Knoll, the daughter of Joseph Peter and Anna Rose Brungardt Knoll on Nov. 12, 1922, in Graham County. She owned and operated City Slickers Janitorial Services. She was a founding member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church parishes and a member of the Christian Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Henry, in 1974; her parents; a grandson, Jerry Farrar; a sister, Helen Prochazka; and a brother, Edwin Knoll.

Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Farrar and husband Steve of Salina; three sons, Theodore J. and wife Kathleen of Lee’s Summit, Mo., John and wife Bev of Newton and Richard and wife Terri of Springfield, Va.; two sisters, Lorina Knoll of Salina and Mary Ann Dungan of Morrilton, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Kristin Tope and husband Daniel, Amy Gilbert, Jared Straight, Abraham Gilbert, Jonathan Gilbert, Adriana Gilbert, Taryn Gilbert and Evan Gilbert; and a great-grandchild, Mitchell Tope.

A funeral Mass will be at noon Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Salina. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

A vigil will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina.

Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until the Mass Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart High School for scholarships.
