Socorro M. "Cora" Hernandez, 81, Salina ,KS died Saturday, April 7th, 2007 in Salina. Mrs. Hernandez was born Socorro Magana in Kanopolis, KS the daughter of Jesus and Sara Magana. She was a homemaker most of her life. She also worked for Shelton’s Clothing Store and Pepsi Bottling company. She was active with the Altar Societies of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and Sacred Heart Cathedral. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Carlos Hernandez, in 1989; their daughter Virginia Hernandez-Nagle in 1994, her parents, a brother Celestino, and her sisters Albina Mesa and Theresa Magana. Survivors include four daughters Lisa Pearmain of Tucson AZ, Kathie Rivera and husband Dick of Wichita, Rose Dean and husband Bruce of Sheldon, SC and Mary Ramos and husband Mark of Topeka; three sons, Carlos and wife Gracie of Olathe, Edward and wife Janelle of Salina and Fred and wife Christa of Olathe; Son-in-law, David Nagle, Topeka. She is survived by two sisters, Esperanza Rios of Parma, OH and Virginia Caldwell of Tucson, AZ. She is survived by four brothers Andrew Magana of San Jacinto, CA, Jesse Magana of Brookville, Frank Magana of Kansas City, KS and Concepcion Magana of Garden City. There are 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 118 N. Ninth, Salina. A vigil and rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina, 730 Holly Lane, Box 2238, Salina 67401, and to the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. |
