PLATTEVILLE, Colo. -- Louis N. "Buster" Just, 83, Platteville, died Sunday June 17, 2007. Mr. Just was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Salina, Kan., to Frank and Gertrude (Phillips) Just. He graduated from Salina High School in 1942 and attended Kansas Wesleyan University for one year. He entered the U.S. Navy and served for six years as a gunner's mate during World War II. He served as an aide to Admiral Byrd on his expeditions to the South Pole. He was a sheet metal worker for Globe and Boyer's Sheet Metal in Salina and worked for Natkin Construction in Longmont. He married Jeannette Landolt on Oct. 21, 1971, in Boulder. He enjoyed fishing, camping and farming and helping neighbors on his tractor and backhoe. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Terzian; and a brother, Gail Just. Survivors include his wife, Jeannette, of Platteville; four daughters, April Boyer and husband Dennis of Littleton, Becky Rageth of Salina and Cheri Smock and husband Barry and Dena Starnes and husband Ray, all of Lindsborg, Kan.; five brothers, Jack Just and wife Norma of Garden City, Kan., Frank Just and wife Darlene of Fort Collins, Vernon Just and wife Judy of Wichita, Kan., Glen Just and wife Jane of Phoenix and Gary Just of Costa Rica; a sister, Doris Keith of McMinn-ville, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, with military rites provided by VFW Post 1432, Salina. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, Colorado Affiliate, 2480 W. 26th, Suite 120 B, Denver, CO 80211. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary. |
