GYPSUM -- Wilma M. Kohman, 81, Gypsum, died Sunday, March 11, 2007. Mrs. Kohman was born Wilma Marie Sippel on April 4, 1925, in Gypsum, to Eugene and Martha (Reiff) Sippel. She graduated from Gypsum High School and Bethany College in Lindsborg with a degree in teaching. She taught a short time before her marriage to Merle Kohman on May 2, 1944. She was a homemaker and managed two fabric shops in Salina for several years. She also sewed band uniforms for area schools. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she served as the church organist for many years, and was a 4-H leader in Saline County for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle, in 1998; and four brothers, Arthur, Al, Verlin and Leonard. Survivors include three sons, Larry of Salina, Roger of Friends and George of Syracuse; two daughters, Karen Ferguson of Goessell and Pam Schneider of Salina; a brother, Walt of Roxbury; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Gypsum, the Rev. John Wolesky officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, south of Gypsum. A vigil and a rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church or Saline County 4-H Development Fund. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. |
