Philip R. Martin, 73, Salina, died Saturday, November 10, 2007. Mr. Martin was born March 24, 1934 in Manhattan to Raymond C. and Helen M. Martin. He lived most of his life in Salina, KS. Phil graduated from Salina High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Phil owned 5 Hertz Rent A Car agencies in Kansas. He was the developer of Victoria Heights, and Shorewood in Salina, KS. He, also, owned Holly Lane Christmas Tree Farm, The Swimming Pool Co., and Park, Ltd. in Salina. Phil was active in the Salina Community Theatre and was an early member of their Theatre Singers. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the Salina Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Helen Ladd Mann. Survivors include one son, Steven R. Martin and his wife Theresa; two daughters, Sandra L. Martin Inman and her husband Mike, and Pamela S. Allen and her husband Don; a sister, Margaret Carbone; and 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of the Nazarene, 1425 S. Ohio, with the Rev. Paul Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Phil's name in care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina, or to a charity of your choice. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff of Indian Creek Healthcare Center of Overland Park, KS. Kelly Sanchez and her staff in the Special Care Unit have loved and cared for our dad for 8 1/2 years. Their kindness can never be fully appreciated. God bless you all. |
