Mrs. Mead was born Dorothy Viola Sheets on Aug. 9, 1924, in Barnard. She was employed as a food service worker with Salina School District.

She was a lifetime member of Salina VFW Auxiliary. In 2004, she was inducted into the Salina WIBC Women's Bowling Hall of Fame. She was a Salina Kennel Club member where she taught puppy class and trained and worked therapy dogs.

She married Dale Mead on March 8, 1941, in Little Rock, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; a daughter, Sharon DeLuna; and two grandchildren, Maria DeLuna and Kelly Mead.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Cutler of Salina; two sons, Everett of Salina and Ronald of Dibble, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
