Kenneth J. Nordboe, 87, Salina, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007. Mr. Nordboe was born Sept. 29, 1919, in Glendale, the son of Otto D. and Lyda Mae (Eckhardt) Nordboe. He farmed and built homes. He was the developer of Southwestern Mobil Home Court. He was an avid tennis player and was the founder of the Kansas Closed Labor Day Tennis Tournament in 1948. The Oakdale Park tennis courts were dedicated as the Ken Nordboe Tennis Facility in 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Don, Lloyd and Merl; and a sister, Bernice. Survivors include his wife, Ann; a son, Mike of Salina; two daughters, Tere Herwig of Salina and Connie Tinker Jackson and husband Tom of Wichita; five grandchildren, Chris, Bryan and Jeffrey Herwig and Nicole and Branden Tinker; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren Herwig and Aliahna Moye-Herwig. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Tom Reid officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Memorials may be made to American Parkinson's Society or the church. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. |
