GYPSUM — Ruth E. Ott, 86, Gypsum, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007. Mrs. Ott was born Ruth Elizabeth Obee to L.W. and Ora Obee, on April 5, 1921, in Lewistown, Mont. She worked as a telephone operator and bank teller. She married Lawrence Ott on April 13, 1947, in Burns. She and her husband owned and operated the Carlton Garage for 49 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Gypsum. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in 2003; and two grandchildren. Survivors include four sons, Melvin of Scott City, Howard and wife Sue of Apollo, Pa., Jim and wife Julie of Castle Rock, Colo., and Richard of Lindsborg; four daughters, Roberta Watts and husband Curtis of Great Bend, Maxine Floyd and husband Charlie of Kansas City, Kan., Jeanne Roberts and husband Troy of O’Fallon, Ill., and Janice Ott of Lawrence; a brother, Gene of Burns; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Gypsum, with the Rev. David Walters officiating. Burial will be in Gypsum Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. |
