William R. "Bill" Peck
March 1, 1924 - September 20, 2007

William R. "Bill" Peck, 83, Salina, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007.

Mr. Peck was born March 1, 1924, in rural Kipp to Fred Alvin and Margaret Marie Quint Peck. He worked for the Salina School District and taught summer school classes for Salina Vo-Tech. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII at the Battle of the Bulge and Normandy. He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus Council 601 and Amateur Radio Club.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis; and two grandchildren, Jeremiah and Jamie; three sisters; and a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy M., of the home; three sons, Robert and wife Cindy of Salina, Melvin and wife Margaret of Assaria, and Donald and wife Leigh of Newton; a daughter, Barbara Bradbury and husband Bob of Salina; two brothers; Lewis of LaRussell, Mo., and James of Independence, Mo.; five sisters, Phyllis Reese, Grace Prater, Marge Bowles and Lucretia Henry, all of Gypsum, and Delores Moore of Belvedere, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Eli, Aaron, Christopher and Joshua Peck, James and Justin Pickrell, Lucas, Joshua and Bobbie Kay Bradbury, Jennifer Collins, and Jessica Reimer; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 118 N. Ninth, Salina. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Sacred Heart Junior-Senior High School.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
