Mr. Persinger was born April 18, 1933, in Overbrook. He was a lieutenant for the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of the home; five sons, Billy Jr. and David Persinger, both of Emporia, Rick Persinger of Aubrey, Texas, Scott Persinger of San Antonio and Wayne Carpenter of Derby; five daughters, Tanya Srna of Assaria, Marla McElderry, Shana Reed and Paula Carpenter, all of Salina, and Rae Ann Middleton of Olathe; two sisters, Helen Moulin of Osage City and Jean Henson of Westchester, Pa.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. A private inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Southeast of Saline Education Foundation, American Heart Association or American Quarter Horse Association.

There will be no visitation.
