Walter Pfanenstiel, 93, Salina, died Monday, May 28, 2007. Mr. Pfanenstiel was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Salina. He retired as a conductor/brakeman for Union Pacific Railroad after 35 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Fern, in 2006; a son, Walter J.; his parents, Paul and Anna; two brothers, Robert and Gene; and two sisters, Helen and Mary Alice. He is survived by a son, James Pfanenstiel and wife JoAnn of Victoria; two daughters, Emma L. Bixby and husband Daryl of Salina and Anna Marie Martin and husband Richard of Liberty, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Mary Pfanenstiel of Addison, Texas; 14 grandchildren, Mike Pfanenstiel, Mari Coppock, Kaydene Ward, Karen White, Craig Pfanenstiel, Curt Pfanenstiel, Cheri Ehlers, Mackenzie Mallon, Tyler Martin, Amy Hays, Stacy Brown, Sean Kindlesparger, Justin Kindlesparger and Amber Renfro; 35 great-grandchildren, Bryce Pfanenstiel, Jason Pfanenstiel, Kelly Coppock, Katie Coppock, Janie Coppock, Kristen Ward, Michelle Ward, Chad White, Derrick White , Natasha White, Jennifer Pfanenstiel, Andrea Pfanenstiel, Miranda Pfanenstiel, Brandon Pfanenstiel, Miles Quintanar, Mason Quintanar, Gus Pfanenstiel, Brooke Pfanenstiel, Cooper Pfanenstiel, Peter Mallon, Luke Mallon, Ava Martin, Ashley Kindlesparger, Corey Kindlesparger, Jordan Wireman, Jadanne Wireman, Morgan Kindlesparger, Hunter Kindlesparger, Dakota Kindlesparger, Addison Renfro, Mallory Renfro, Clarie Renfro, Cade Hays, Keegan Hays and Konon Hays; and a great-great-grandchild, Evan White. A funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina. Memorial contributions can be made to the church, Sacred Heart High School or Holiday Resort Adult Care Center, Salina. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. A rosary/vigil will be at 6 p.m. at the mortuary. |
