Mrs. Philpott was born Doris Esther Helmbold on Oct. 18, 1932, in Ambridge, Pa., to Ernest and Esther. She was a longtime employee of St. Francis Boys Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Mattia, in 1957.

Survivors include a son, Anthony Mattia and wife Twila of Wamego; two daughters, Denise Barnett and husband J.D. of Flower Mound, Texas, and Ann Philpott and husband Tracy LaOrange of Salina; a sister, Marlene Waidley of Erie, Pa.; three grandsons, Nathan and Patrick Mattia and Travis Barnett; and a friend, Sue Deckert.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at the mortuary.
