Dava Kay Pierce, 70, Salina, died Thursday, March 8, 2007. Mrs. Pierce was born Dava Kay Means on Feb. 17, 1937, in Oklahoma City. She was an elementary schoolteacher in Salina for many years. She taught piano lessons in her home. She attended Washburn University, Topeka, and graduated from Marymount College, Salina. She married Charles M. Pierce on June 22, 1958, in Salina. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Salina, and PEO. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Means. Survivors include her husband, Charles M., of the home; a son, Curtis and wife Janeen of Bakersfield, Calif.; a daughter, Laura Lutjen and husband Jerry of Overland Park; a brother, Gerald Means and wife Sandy of Fort Myers, Fla., a sister, Patricia Huffman and husband Jack of Topeka; her mother, Emma Louise Means, of Topeka; and four grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Memorials may be made to the church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, where the family will receive friends. |
