Mr. Riggs was born Oct. 7, 1929, in Mount Carmel, Ill., to Orval S. and Dorothy M. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years. He also worked for the state of Kansas as a custodian and storekeeper in Topeka and Salina retiring in 1991.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Elvera, of the home; a son, Wesley and wife Haiqiong of Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters, Debra Barnhart and husband Michael of Fort Worth, Texas, and Regina Riggs of Salina; and four grandchildren, Laura and John Barnhart and Veronica and Douglas Riggs, all of Fort Worth, Texas.

A graveside inurnment with military honors provided by McConnell Air Force Base will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Brookville City Cemetery, Brookville, the Rev. Willard Ashcraft officiating.

Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans or Salina Rescue Mission.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.
