Mrs. Schmidt was born Caroline M. Berens on Oct. 3, 1928, to William H. Berens and the former Amelia A. VonFeldt Berens. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert "Bill," in 1989; seven brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Brian Keith of Salina and Bruce Allen and wife Robyn of Littleton, Colo.; a daughter, Michelle M. Lynn and husband Charlie of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and six grandchildren, Nicole, Jacque and Sami Lynn, Travis Schmidt, Meggan Gossage and Mike Olson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, Salina, the Rev. Allen Sheer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina. A vigil will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
