Spc. David K. Schoof, 23, Salina, died Nov. 21, 2007, in Oahu, Hawaii, from injuries received in a motorcycle wreck. Spc. Schoof was born Nov. 5, 1984, in Salina. He was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii with the 25th Infantry VAU Forward Division. He had served one tour of duty in Iraq. He graduated from Salina South High School and attended vocational-technical school in Salina. He earned his Eagle Scout rank in 2002. He played soccer and the trombone during high school. He was preceded in death by two grandparents, Dolores “Rusty” Crough, in 2006; and Don Schoof, in 1992. Survivors include his mother, Delene K. “Dee” Schoof, of Salina; his father, Larry D. Schoof, of Manhattan; a brother, Rick L. of Manhattan; two grandparents, Vincent E. “Mike” Crough and Kathlyn Schoof, both of Salina; a great-grandmother, Faye Crough of Salina; two uncles; three aunts; and nine cousins. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 E. Neal, Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, with military honors by Fort Riley. Memorials may be made to Coronado Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America or the David Schoof Music Education Fund. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. |
