Mrs. Shook was born Mildred M. Fouts on March 16, 1923, in Rosalee, Neb. She owned and operated several restaurants in Iowa and Nevada from 1964 to 1989.

Her first husband, Richard Watson, died in 1970.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Barnes and Linda Bennett, both of Salina; a brother, Roger Fouts of Van Nuys, Calif.; two sisters, Doris Nelson of Junction, Texas, and Cora Simpson of Hardington, Neb.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Salina. Inurnment will be at a later date in Blencoe Cemetery, Blencoe, Iowa.

Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation, Kansas Chapter.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.
