Mrs. Snead was born Julia Irene Swanson on July 28, 1918, in Salina. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, in 1976; a grandson, Michael Taylor; and a great-grandson, Parker Ray McVay.

Survivors include three daughters, Julie Ottley and Barbara Allen, both of Salina, and Joyce Taylor of Longmont, Colo.; a sister, Mary Jo Hudson of Surprise, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Ninth and Iron, Salina. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

A vigil will be held and a rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the cathedral, Hospice of Salina or the Emergency Aid-Food Bank.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
