Arthur R. Spohn, 89, Salina, died Thursday, December 20, 2007. Mr. Spohn was born Sept. 15, 1918, in Saline County. He was a parts clerk for Long McArthur Ford and Salina Auto Parts, retiring in 1980.He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a life member of American Legion Post 62, Salina. He also was a rifle instructor for Sunflower Jr. Rifle Club. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received a silver medal with three bronze stars. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha S., in 1999; his parents, William and Erma Spohn; and a brother, Ernest Spohn. Survivors include two sons, Karl Spohn of Hope and Scott Spohn and wife Sharon of Lindsborg; two daughters, Julie Rogge and husband Bill of Salina and Mary Spohn of Tumwater, Wash.; a sister, Alice Bates of Salina; eight grandchildren, Angela Kaye Spohn, Tyson Spohn, Cristy (Spohn) Dobbs, Christopher Rogge, Kathie Spohn, Cassie Spohn, Karissa Spohn and Shannon Rogge; and a daughter-in-law, Candy Spohn of Salina. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Salina. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, New Cambria. A vigil will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 62, Salina. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. |
