Mr. Swander was born May 16, 1934, in Osborne.He was an electrician for Swander Electric, Salina, retiring in 1997.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of the home; two sons, Steve and wife Glenda of Manhattan and Fred and wife Ann of Salina; two daughters, Karen Choate and husband Jerel of Austin, Texas, and Carol Lord and husband Jim of Burbank, Calif.; a sister, Ann Fox of Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Jarrod and Justin Choate, Stewart Swander, Sarah Swander Jarrett, Jess Swander, Molly Swander and James Lord; and a great-grandchild, Reagan Jarrett.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Southern Baptist Church, Magnolia and Ohio, Salina.

A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sumner Cemetery, Alton.

Memorials may be made to Tammy Walker Cancer Center, Salina.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, where the family will receive friends 6 to 7 p.m.
