Donald Richard Swihart
January 25, 1943 - June 11, 2007

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA -- Donald Richard Swihart, age 64, of Birmingham, Ala. died on June 11, 2007.

Don was raised in Salina, Kan., where he earned his Eagle Scout Award. He attended Kansas Wesleyan College.

Don retired from the A.C. Nielson Marketing Research company with 30 years of service. He served as district manager in Kansas and Birmingham. He also served on the church council at First Lutheran Church in Topeka, Kan.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Clinton Swihart, and his mother, Cora Miller Swihart.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Swihart, daughter, Pamela Swihart Rist; son-in-law, Bruce Rist; brothers, Gerald (Sharon) Swihart and Ronald Swihart; sister, Nancy Swihart (Tim) Benson; grandchildren, Abigail, Joseph and Nathanael Rist; three nieces; three nephews; and other relatives.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 13 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Hertitage Funeral Home, Pelham, Ala. Funeral service will be at First Christian Church on Valleydale Road in Birmingham, Ala. on Thursday, June 14 at 11 a.m. Pastor Ed Spencer will officiate. Graveside service will be in Salina, Kan., at Gypsum Hill Cemetery on Monday, June 18 at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
