Mr. Tran was born Oct. 15, 1950, in Vietnam. Mr. Tran worked for Raytheon and recently received a 30-year ring from the company.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Parish and was a religious brother in the Congregation of the Mother Coredemptrix from 1963 through 1976. He was a gardener and fisherman and enjoyed yard work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tan Cong and Que Thi; and a daughter, Mary Tran.

He married Hue Pham on June 16, 1979, in Salina, and she survives him.

Other survivors include a son, John of Carthage, Mo.; a daughter, Theresa Tran of Salina; a brother, Phuc of Vietnam; and a sister, Chi Tran of Vietnam.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. Burial will be in All Saints Catholic Church Cemetery, Salina.

A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. A vigil will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today and from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
