Mr. Wachtel was born March 11, 1922, in Salina. He was a partner in Salina Office Supply, Inc.specializing in banking and electro-mechanical equipment systems, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Salina Elks, RSVP and the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Louis and Rose Amelia; a daughter, Elizabeth Hopp in 1995; and a brother, William.

Survivors include his wife, Lois, of the home; a son, John of Marquette; three daughters, Mary Carroll of Danville, Ill.,,Margaret Sandoval of Lenexa and Barbara Nash of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Anna Vishnefski of Minneapolis; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. A private Inurnment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

A vigil will be held and a rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
