Mrs. Wood was born Nell M. Evans on June 16, 1912, in Scotsville, the daughter of John Earl and Imogene Meredith Evans. She was a homemaker.

She attended Park College, Kansas City, Mo., and studied art at Marymount College. She enjoyed painting in acrylics and watercolors.

She was a member of Christ Cathedral Episcopal Church and its Altar Guild and St. Martha's Guild. She was also a member of Chapter B.W. of the P.E.O. and the Current Literature Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, in 1995; and a brother, John Earl Evans.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Nell Beatty and husband Mike of Salina; a son, John Wood of Salina; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ Cathedral Episcopal Church, Salina, the Rev. Jerry Jones officiating. Inurnment will be in Columbarium of Christ Cathedral Church.

Memorials may be made to the church or The Greater Salina Community Foundation.

There will be no visitation.
