Barney M. Aldridge
April 25, 1920 - April 16, 2008

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Barney M. Aldridge, age 87, died Wednesday, April 16 in Cheyenne, WY. He was born April 25, 1920 in Kansas City, Mo, the son of William Aldridge and Fay ( Webb ) Aldridge. He was a cabinet maker with his older brother, Wilbur Aldridge, at Aldridge Cabinet Shop, Salina, KS. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a member of Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 3 59th Infantry and committed much of his later life to service for the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had served as State Adjutant/Quartermaster Department of Kansas Veterans of Foreign Wars for 21 years. He was a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1432, Salina; Life Member of American Legion #62, Salina; Life Member of Military Order of Cooties #3, Topeka; Past Commanders VFW Club,Topeka; Past Grand Quartermaster of Military Order of Cooties; Past Grand Military Order of Cooties Commander; Past VFW 6th District Commander; Past Commander VFW Post 1432, Salina; Life Member of VFW National Home; Past Seam Squirrel, Military Order of Cooties #3, Topeka; Life Member B.P.O. Elks #718, Salina.

Barney married Arlyss Louise (Arnold) Aldridge in 1953. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage until her death in 2006. A daughter-in-law, Stefani Aldridge also precedes him in death. Survivors include his sisters: Ruth Dutton of Shawnee, OK and Jo Armstrong of Livingston, TX; sons, Marc Aldridge of Fort Wayne, IN and Dee Aldridge and his wife, Pam, of Cheyenne, WY; two grandchildren Nicki Aldridge & Marc Aldridge, Jr, both of Fort Wayne, IN.

Funeral services will be Wednesday April 23, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum Williamsburg, Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina, with full military honors presented by Salina Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1432. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 8:00 p.m. at the mortuary where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm . Memorials may be made to the VFW Endowment Scholarship.
