Florence was a graduate of Salina High School and Salina Business College. She married Quintin A. Applequist on August 2, 1942. Quintin was founder and president of Roberts Industries, Inc., in Salina. He preceded her in death in October 2004.

Florence was an active, lifelong member of First Covenant Church in Salina. She was also active in many clubs and organizations. Florence and Quintin enjoyed traveling and spending time together in Colorado.

Survivors include a son, Roy Applequist and wife Donice of Salina; and a son, Gene Applequist and wife Marilyn of Grand Lake, Colorado; five grandchildren, Penny Rauchholz, Hannah Applequist, Gustaf Applequist, Nissa Applequist and Peter Applequist; and two great-grandchildren, Johann and Lena Rauchholz.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2008, at First Covenant Church, Salina. Burial will be in Mission Hill Cemetary, Smolan. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to First Covenant Church, Salina.
