Robert D. Baldwin
November 17, 1923 - November 5, 2008

Robert D. Baldwin, 84, Salina, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008. Mr. Baldwin was born Nov. 17, 1923 at Ada, Kansas, the son of Arthur Willis and Inez Evangeline (Hallock) Baldwin. He was a long-time Saline county farmer, with a love for the land and for family. He graduated from Clay County Community High School where his passion was playing the trombone. During WWII he worked assembling airplanes in Wichita and Omaha. On July 20, 1947 he married Wilma Priddy, then farmed near Miltonvale before moving to Saline County in 1948. He was a dedicated member of the University United Methodist Church for sixty years, serving on many committees, and singing in choir. His many interests included restoring antique tractors and cars, woodworking, and building and repairing just about anything.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Gilbert, and sisters, Grace, Fern, Irene and Doris. Survivors include his wife, Wilma, of the home, children Rita and husband Dr. Duane Tinkler of Assaria, Sharilyn of Centennial, Colorado, Darryl and wife Denise of Lafayette, Indiana, Barbara and husband Mike Morris of Rockwall, Texas, and Roma and husband Lowell Wriston of Denver, Colorado. His grandchildren are Jason Tinkler of Assaria, Dr. Karma Loughney of Topeka, Matt Baldwin of Gilbert, Arizona, Chris Baldwin of Mesa, Arizona, Ashley Komoroski of St. Peters, Missouri, Rebecca Baldwin and Erin Baldwin of Centennial, Colorado, and Downer and Robert Dykes of Rockwell, Texas, and there are four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Marjorie Dickson of Spring Valley, California and Marilyn Thomas of Clay Center, Kansas, and a sister-in-law, Florence Baldwin, of Thornton, Colorado.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the University United Methodist Church, 1509 S. Santa Fe, Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Memorials may be made to the University United Methodist Church or to the Kaye Pogue Hospice Center in care of the mortuary.
