Milton A. Bender, 82, Salina, died Sunday, June 15, 2008. Mr. Bender was born November 30, 1925, in Russell, the son of August and Bertha Bender. He worked for the city of Salina for over 35 years, retiring in 1989 as the Park Superintendent. Milton was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Delores; son, Brian of Denver, CO; daughter, Brenda Schartz of Salina; two sisters, Tilly Prather of Guyman, OK, and Esther Fleishmann of Greeley, CO; three grandchildren, Jason Briscoe of Salina, Dawn Briscoe of Denver and Sierra Schartz of Salina; and four great-grandchildren, Hailey and Leanda Briscoe of Oklahoma City, and Aiden Briscoe and Jordan Komerck, both of Salina. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 702 S. Ninth. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Russell. Memorials may be made to the church, Minneapolis Good Samaritan Center or Hospice Care of Kansas. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. |
