Sumie Budke, 72, of Downs, Kansas, passed away on July 19, 2008. She was a passionate painter, a skilled culinary artist, a dear friend, and a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She is survived by her daughter, Freda Strack of Lindsborg, Kansas, her son, Terry Cain of Grand Island, Nebraska, and her grandchildren, Jordan, Zachary, Dylan, Gabriel, Annaliese, and Anderson. She is also survived by her sisters, Toyoko and Jun, her brother, Shio, and a number of nieces and nephews in Japan. She touched many lives with her warmth and kindness and will be remembered and missed. An open house to celebrate her life will be held at the Depot in Downs, Kansas, on Friday, July 25 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
