George L. Chaput

George L. Chaput, 79, Salina, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Windsor Estates Nursing Center in Salina. Mr. Chaput was born November 4, 1928, in Aurora, KS. He was the parts manager for Martin Tractor Company in Concordia until his retirement in 1986.

Mr. Chaput was a veteran, serving in the Combat Engineers during the Korean War.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Ronel and Amelia Emma (Dandurand) Chaput.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Edith Marie (Bachand) Chaput, of Salina; three daughters, Cynthia Shaughnessy of Superior, Neb., Jerilyn Taylor of Frisco, TX, and Renee LeBlanc of Lenexa; a brother, Dean Chaput of Salina; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 9th and Iron streets, Salina, with Father Allen Scheer officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Concordia Catholic Cemetery, Concordia. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth St., Salina. A vigil/rosary service will be at 6 p.m. today at the Ryan Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to McCall Manor of Salina, the Salina Rescue Mission or to the Sacred Heart Cathedral.
