Mary K. Christiansen
March 28, 1929 - August 21, 2008

Mary K. Christiansen, 79, Salina, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008. Mary was born March 28, 1929, in Salina. She was the twin daughter of Patrick F. and Katharine Noone. She graduated from Tampa High School and Kansas Newman College.

She was married to Merrill Christiansen on Sept. 22, 1948. Together they ran a cattle and farming operation in Marion County and were co-owners of the livestock auction in Salina for 20 years. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper. She was active in her community through her church, Holy Family Parish of Marion County, 4-H leadership, the Durham library and senior center, The Red Hat Society and the election board in Marion County, where she lived for nearly all her life. She recently was a resident of Presbyterian Manor in Salina. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Kansas Livestock Association for 50 years.

She joins in heaven her beloved husband of 53 years, Merrill; parents, P.F. and Katharine Noone; and sister, Helen McCaffrey.

Survivors include her sons and daughters, Tom and wife Connie of Cape Coral, FL, Barbara McDonald and husband Stan of Salina, Karen Hunter and husband Steve of Centreville, VA, and Gary and wife Tamara of Durham; brother, Richard Noone of Hillsboro; twin sister, Margaret McMillen of Mission; seven grandchildren, Kristin Prophet and husband Russ, Alicia McDonald, Stephanie and Katie Christiansen, Nolan McDonald and fiancee Sarah Tjaden, and Amanda and Kimberly Hunter; and one great-granddaughter, Mariah Prophet.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, with a vigil at 6 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina, KS 67401.

Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud, Salina, KS 67401. Private family burial will be later in Canton Township Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials, in lieu of flowers, be made to Hospice of Salina or Presbyterian Manor, in care of the mortuary.
