William “Bill” David Clark
June 16, 1926 - August 7, 2008

William “Bill” David Clark, 82, Salina, died Thursday, August 7, 2008. He was born June 16, 1926, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Gerald David and Lina Dell (Wylie) Clark. He graduated from Salina High School in 1944.

He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the 40th Infantry Division in the Pacific Theater, including the liberation of the Philippines and the occupation of Japan and Korea. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Bronze Star and Philippine Liberation Medal. After his discharge from the Army, he re-enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed at the Smoky Hill Airbase in Salina and Lowery Airfield in Colorado. He was a life member of the Salina VFW Post 1432.

He was a retired plumbing parts manager for Salina Supply Company. Prior to that, he worked for the Salina Implement John Deere Company, the U.S. Postal Service and Foley Tractor-Caterpillar Company. He was a member of the Salina Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Scottish Rite and Isis Shrine.

His hobbies included genealogy, photography, bowling, golfing and mall walking. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid K-State Wildcat fan.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George V. Clark, G. Ed Clark, Paul V. Clark; and one sister, Irene Clark.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary (Bezemek) Clark; a son, Kelly R. Clark of Salina; a daughter, Kimberly Jo Clark of Emporia; a niece Sharon Frazell and husband Harold of Salina; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th Street, Salina. Funeral service will be Monday, August 11, 2008, 10 a.m. at Ryan Mortuary with Pastor Mike Rose of University United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina with military honors provided by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Hospice of Salina or Salina VFW Post 1432 and may be left in care of the mortuary.
