GREAT BEND — Arlene L. Disney, 78, Great Bend, Kansas, and formerly of Salina Kansas, died Friday, May 2, 2008. She was born September 9, 1929, in Topeka, Kansas, to Alvin and Mabel Burkhardt. She moved to Salina in 1942. On January 25, 1948, she married Howard Disney at the First United Methodist Church in Salina. After her husband’s death in 2003, she moved to Great Bend. She worked for First Bank & Trust in Salina and later worked for the Saline County Clerk’s Office until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Salina; Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW No. 311; American Legion Auxiliary; Barton County Silver Cougar Club; and Barton County Historical Society. She also was past secretary of the Saline County Democratic Central Committee and was past precinct committeewoman for Saline County. She is survived by two sons, Guy Disney of Great Bend, Kansas, and Gary Disney and his wife Diana of Topeka, Kansas; a sister, Betty Harris of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, Kansas. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today and until the hour of the service on Monday at the mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church, Salina, or Hospice. |
