Mr. Dye was born October 2, 1923, in Mulvane. He was a teacher and football, track and wrestling coach for 36 years at South Junior High, North Junior High and Salina Central High Schools.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris J. Dye, in 2007; and a son, David J. Dye, in 1997.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff M. Dye of Salina and Fred A. Dye of Peoria, Ariz.; a daughter, Barbara Guster-Dye of Lawrence; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Lucas, Abe, Amanda, Ivy, Sophie and Andrew; and four great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Zoe, Austin and Ryan.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at University United Methodist Church, Salina, the Rev. Mike Rose officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.
