Betty A. Eickhoff, 85, Salina, lately of Wichita, KS, passed away on Aug. 17, 2008, at Wichita Presbyterian Manor. She was born Betty Bates on April 1, 1923, in Minneapolis, KS, to Kelley and Etta (Burkholder) Bates. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Helen Stout; brothers, Kenneth and Lewis Bates; and husbands, Carl N. Wood in 1965 and Red Eickhoff in 2000. Betty was a registered nurse at Asbury Hospital from 1948 to 1958 and an instructor at Asbury School of Nursing. From 1959 to 1976, she was Dr. Andrew Rueb’s office nurse and later operated R&B Craft with her husband, Red. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church for 60 years and an active volunteer in various church and community programs. Betty was a kind and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend, known for her warmth and fun-loving personality. Her life revolved around her love of family and friends. She is survived by her children (and their spouses), LeEtta (Bill) Maxwell, Estero, FL; Carlene (Jesse) Acosta, Wichita; Connie Eickhoff, Flower Mound, TX; Bill (Kathy) Eickhoff, Saginaw, MI; Julie (Ray) Lindsay, Oklahoma City, OK: nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be at from noon until 8 p.m. Thursday Ryan Mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday morning, Aug. 22, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church. |
