Georgie M. Garrett, 90, Salina, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Kaye Pogue Hospice Center, Salina. Mrs. Garrett was born Georgie G. Marshall on April 12, 1918, in Clifton. She graduated from Clifton High School and the business college in Topeka. She married Warren Garrett on Aug. 24, 1940, in Clifton, and would have celebrated 68 years of marriage in August. She was employed by AAA and was the volunteer chairman at Asbury Hospital for many years. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Glenda F. Garrett. She is survived by her husband, Warren Garrett, of the home; two daughters, Claudia Johnson and husband Jim and Marsha Williams and husband Jim; four grandchildren, Jamie and wife Laura, Brett, Annie, and Chad; and one great-grandchild, Camden, all of Denver; and a sister, Ferne Theis of Los Angeles. There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, at First United Methodist Church, 122 N. Eighth, Salina, KS 67401, with the Rev. Troy Bowers officiating. Private inurnment will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. The family suggests memorials to the church or Kaye Pogue Hospice Center, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, KS 67401. |
