Mr Goertzen was born May 19, 1943, in Goessel. He had worked for Bill Foster Trucking, Becker Trucking and EFD Freight Company, all of Salina. He also worked for Salina Concrete for several years, as a truck driver, retiring in 2003.

He married Elizabeth Sue Gebhardt on September 5, 1965, in Abilene.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth, of the home; a son, John and wife Jessica of Salina; a daughter, Teresa Goertzen of Salina; a brother, LeRoy and wife Phyllis of Newton; two sisters, Alda and husband Tom Hiebert of Goessel and Frances and husband Mark Wistrom of Tuscon, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Haley Goertzen of Jacksonville, N.C., and Riley and Cade Goertzen, both of Salina.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ninth and Crawford, Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
