Ida Mae (Hughes) Gustafson, 82, of Salina, died Tuesday Oct. 7, 2008. She was born the daughter of Keith and Beulah (Smith) Hughes, April 14, 1926, in Saline County, KS. She was an elementary school teacher for 43 years in many Saline County rural schools and in Culver. Most of her years teaching were at the Falun and Smolan grade schools. She was an avid photographer and loved her family very much. Survivors include her husband, John Gustafson, of Salina; two brothers, Harry and Donald Hughes, both of Salina; two sisters, Beulah Smith and Virginia Reeves, both of Salina; five nephews, Billy McDaniel, Mark Smith, Clinton Hughes, Tom Hughes and Richard Reeves; eight nieces, Karen Murphy, Kathleen Hughes, Nancy Trarbach, Barbara Powell, Julie Boyd, Sally Crane, Diana Gibbs and Kerry Swearingen. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Culver. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ryan’s. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Salina. |
