He was a veteran of the Korean War. Sgt. Hanzlicek served in the Army Engineers and was stationed at Tokyo, Japan. Courtney married Lila (Peck) Poehler on Nov. 1, 1963. Lila passed away April 29, 2006. Courtney was baptized a member of First Presbyterian Church, Newton, having served as a deacon and an elder.

In addition to his wife, Lila, Courtney was preceded in death by his brother, Weldon; and sister, Aileen Green.

Courtney is survived by his sister, Geraldine Parker, Lucas; brother, Bill and wife Diane, Sabetha; two sisters-in-law, Ivis Meitler, Salina, and Vera Meyer, Sylvan Grove; one brother-in-law, Wendell Peck of Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, KS 67401, followed by inurnment at 12:30 p.m. in Rosette Cemetery, Sylvan Grove.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina or Lucas Grass Roots Art Center, in care of the mortuary.
