| Ralph Adair Haneke |

Ralph Adair Haneke, 81, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, in Salina. Ralph was born July 21, 1927, in Ellis and was the sixth of ten children born to Eva Sauer and Walter Haneke. He played high school football and served in the Army during World War II, stationed at Fort Riley and Leavenworth. He married Elinor L. Brining in February 1951 and moved to Great Bend, Kan., where they then resided for over 50 years. Ralph was a self-employed certified financial planner. He was a Boy Scout leader, Mason and member of the Lion’s Club and American Legion. Ralph was very active in his church, his local chapter of Habitat for Humanity and his community. He was also an avid gardener and reader. He was a brother, husband, friend, businessman, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed by many. Mr. Haneke was preceded by his wife, Elinor; and daughter, Beth Haneke. Ralph is survived by his son, Craig Haneke, of Great Bend; grandchildren, Lindsey Carlson and husband Brandon, Sarah McKinney and Jordan McKinney; and four great-grandchildren, all of the Kansas City area. He is also survived by his siblings, Minnie Ashbaugh and Raymond Haneke, both of Ellis, Luetta Harrell, of Salina, Donald Haneke, of Morganville, Calif., and Donna Henderson, of Almena. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at First United Methodist Church, Great Bend. Lunch will be served after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Haneke Scholarship Fund, in care of the church, or the Great Bend chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Ryan Mortuary, Salina. |
