Christopher Alan Hatfield, 41, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. Chris was born on October 10, 1967 in Anthony, KS to P.D. and Carolyn.
He was raised in Salina, Ks and graduated from Salina South High School in 1987 and attended Hutchinson Junior College. He was worked as a sales representative for Mohawk Industries in Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky.
Chris was preceded in death by his Grandparents Phil and Betty Hatfield, and Jack Jacobsen, Uncle Leslie Hatfield, and Cousin Jennifer Hatfield Eaton.
He is survived by his mother and step-father Carolyn and Don Thorn of Palm Beach Gardens, FL., Father and Step- mother P.D. and Sharon (Smith) Hatfield of Greeley, CO. One brother, Phillip Hatfield and wife Beverly, nephews Zachariah and Joshua Hatfield, all of Salina, KS. Step brotherís Doug, Jeff and wife Vicki, Bruce and wife Julia Smith. Douglas and wife Sara, and Jeff Thorn. Grandmother, Erma Lou Jacobsen of Wichita, KS. Uncles and Aunts; Jim and Laurie Hatfield of Houston, TX, Linda (Jacobsen) and Bob Lewis of Deercroft, NC. Ann (Jacobsen) Bush, Eric and Naomi Jacobsen, and De Ann Eaton, all of Wichita, KS. Great Aunt Norma and Uncle Stanley Stout of John Day, OR. and, Cousins Susan and Mark Kiefer, Sally and Ward Cook, Michael and Beth Hatfield, and Tracy Hatfield.
Chris lived his short years on this earth doing it his way, experiencing life to the fullest, and cherishing his friends and family more than life it self. He always had a happy, hearty smile that was infectious to everyone he ever met. Chris was an avid sports fan that enjoyed fishing, golfing, washers and all things competitive. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, and Florida State, but was most enthusiastic when it came to the Kansas City Chiefs and KU Jayhawks. Life is brighter for the loved ones left behind because, he had graced this earth. And now when you look up in the sky, there is an extra bright star, and that is Chris looking down on us all.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be at 2:30 PM Sunday at the ICE Lounge, 141 N. Santa Fe, Salina, KS.
Memorial Services will be 3:00 PM Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Salina, KS. There will be no visitation, cremation was chosen. Memorial gifts are to the Kansas Society for Crippled Children, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St. Salina, KS 67401.
