Joseph M. “Joe” Hintz
April 15, 1912 - August 24, 2008

Joseph M. “Joe” Hintz, 96, Salina, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at Bethany Home, Lindsborg.

Mr. Hintz was born April 15, 1912, in Salina to Julius and Mary (Schneider) Hintz.

He was the shop foreman for Wyatt Manufacturing in Salina for more than 34 years, retiring in 1978.

Words to describe Joe would be a man of faith and a true gentleman, solid, strong, responsible, a hard worker, dependable, patient and content. He was one who appreciated and thanked everyone and would always smile and say, “Thanks for coming.”

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, in 2001: a son, John, in 1996: a brother, William; and two sisters, Mary Komarek and Gertrude Hintz.

He is survived by two sons, Thomas of Manhattan and David of Olathe; two daughters, Margaret Mary Patrick of Lindsborg and Agnes Kepka of Ellsworth; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hintz of Leawood; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina, KS 67401. A vigil/rosary service will be at 7 p.m. today at the mortuary.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Ninth and Iron, Salina. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

Memorials are suggested to the cathedral or to Bethany Home, Lindsborg.
