Burt Humphries
August 20, 1930 - March 19, 2008

Burt Humphries, 77, Salina, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008. He was born August 20, 1930 at Salyards, Kansas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard. For many years, he was employed as an oil pumper for oil companies. He also lived in Nebraska for fifty years. His wife Beth and he were foster parents for over one hundred children.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beth, in 1997; a daughter, Gaynell “Nell” in 1978; four brothers; a sister; and three great-grandchildren. He is survived by eight children, Burton Dwight “Dee” Humphries II of Pocatello, Idaho, Ellsbeth “Ebbi” Humphries of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jack Humphries of Lincoln, Nebraska, Trish Humphries of David City, Nebraska, Jessica Durham of Belvidere, Tennessee, Peter Jason Humphries of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Joe Humphries of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Jerry “Eli” Humphries of Chadron, Nebraska; four sisters, Myrna Porter of Wichita, Kansas, Velma Thornton of Leon, Kansas, Patty Jury of Peabody, Kansas, and Terry Winter of Arkansas City, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Ryan Mortuary with the Rev. Paul Robbins officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Bushnell, Nebraska. There will be no visitation. Memorials are to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure-Mid Kansas Affiliate for the Breast Cancer Foundation.
