Jim Murl Hunter, 65, Salina died Sept 4, 2008. He was born Feb. 9, 1943 to Murl & Ruby Louise Stewart Wilson in Oklahoma City, Ok. At the age of six, Jim’s mother married John Kendall Hunter who adopted Jim on Sept 8, 1949. Jim married Rita Jane Peters on Feb. 11, 1964 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Beloit. They were privileged to celebrate 44 years together. To this union were born four daughters, Linda Kaye Moore Blouch, Betty Sue Cagle, Jeana Ann Gordon & Deanna Jane Hunter. They survive him, as do his son; John Hunter, Jr., Larned; and four sisters, Judy Smith, Topeka, Sandra Phillips, Larned, Patricia Hunter, Tumcumcarie, NM, and John’s twin, Joan Donovan, Larned. Jim attended rural grade school west of Beloit and graduated from Beloit High School in 1961. He enlisted in the US Army & served as a Specialist 4th Class. He was stationed at Ft. Riley and served a tour of duty in Berlin, Germany. He was an avid fixer of everything, a mechanic and tool and die maker. He was a strong supporter of team unions for employment protection. Throughout his years of work in the metal industry he progressed to be a talented tool designer. He loved his children and was willing to help anyone in need. He always said, “I did it for my family.” Vigil services will be at the Ryan Mortuary on Sunday at 4:00 pm where friends may call from 3:30 until 5:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be on Monday Sept 8, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Salina. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers. |
